PRIVACY POLICY

Up First

We know that legal documents can be confusing and boring. So, we wanted to give you a quick summary of our principles when it comes to collecting, using, and disclosing your personal information (information about you).

  • Reclaim Pride Coalition NYC (RPC) is an inclusive direct-action group of LGBTQIA2S+ people and their allies. We respect your request to maintain your privacy or even your anonymity, both online and in person.

  • RPC is committed to centering and amplifying the voices and needs of marginalized LGBTQIA2S+ communities, and part of our mission will involve opportunities for you (if you’d like) to share information with us:

    • For example, perhaps you’ll choose to sign up for our newsletter by providing us your email address, or you’ll choose to attend a meeting in person and share your name with us.

    • You also might choose to participate in actions in public places where you could be photographed or recorded by members of RPC, the media, or the general public.

    • Or, perhaps you’re just browsing our website - and like browsing any website, information is exchanged between your web browser and our website (it’s just the way the internet works).

  • RPC is not interested in collecting more of your personal information than you’d like to provide to us (or is necessary - for example, to operate this website). We’re not interested in using or disclosing your personal information in ways you wouldn’t expect, and we will never sell your information.

  • Fundamentally, RPC’s collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information is to enable you to connect with us in the ways you’d like - for example, to communicate via email, to give you a receipt if you’ve donated funds, to ship RPC shirts, and so on.

  • We also take the safety of our members and our group very seriously, and may use or disclose your personal information in order to protect you, our members, or RPC.

  • RPC will not cooperate with law enforcement / government requests for your personal information unless we view it as necessary for your safety and wellbeing, or ours, or we are required to do so by law. If we are notified of a legal requirement to provide your personal information, we will work with our lawyers to determine whether to comply, and, if we’re able, notify you in advance about our decision.

  • You have choices about the information you provide to us:

    • You may determine whether (and what) information you choose to provide to us voluntarily (for example, whether to sign up for our newsletter).

    • You may be able to implement computer, browser, or telecommunication controls that will limit what information we receive as a result of using our website (for example, by using a privacy-secure browser or a VPN to obscure your IP address).

    • You may request that we not photograph or video you and we will make best efforts to do so, but we may notify you that in certain settings (for example, a public group action) it will not be possible for you to participate. We also cannot control whether the media or the general public photograph or record you in such settings.

Now, onto the legal stuff.
