Accessibility Planning

The Reclaim Pride Accessibility team works to support the participation of as many members of our communities as possible in the annual Queer Liberation March, Town Hall meetings, streamed panel discussions, and all other events. To ensure accessibility, we offer:

  • American Sign Language Interpreters: Available both onsite and for streaming events.

  • Wheelchair Accessibility: Wheelchair-accessible spaces for meetings and manual wheelchairs are available for those who need them during the march.

  • Access Van: Reserved seating on an air conditioned Access Van for those who need an alternative to walking the entire March.

  • Refreshments: Water and light snacks are available along the March route.

  • Early Departure Options: Opportunities to depart from the March before it ends.

  • Closed Captioning: Closed captioning for video meetings and livestreamed events via YouTube.

Health Alerts & Resources

The COVID pandemic is ongoing. In fact, the flu pandemic of 1918 is still present as seasonal flu. We strongly recommend staying updated via the People’s CDC and subscribing to their monthly “COVID-19 Weather Reports.”

The federal government has proven to be inconsistent in keeping local municipalities and citizens updated and resourced. As a coalition, we evaluate scientific data and advocate for our communities to stay safe by embracing vaccines, mask usage, social distancing principles, and safer sex practices.

Route Planning

The March route will not be barricaded, and participants are welcome to join or depart at any point along the route. We aim for routes close to 2 miles long, avoiding obstacles like cobblestones, construction zones, and police presence. We seek shaded areas for hot summer days and provide water and masks for immunocompromised participants.

We also map out the closest accessible subway stations to the March’s start and end points, such as the 14th Street (1,2,3) and (A,C,E,L) stations. The MTA maintains an Accessible Stations Subway Map and an updated list of Accessible Stations. NYRestroom.com maintains a list of public restrooms with accessibility filters, which we verify for accuracy before the March.
